I am here to bitch.
I am here to bitch. Yes, bitch. Wait...don't I do that all the time anyway? Why yes, I do....but guess what...I'm going to do it anyway! I'm bored. At work, and slightly bored off my butt. I "hurried" back from Austin on Thursday b/c I have a paper deadline on July 1st. Thought my advisor and I would start kicking butt on it, and pumping it all out when I got back. But, she had the entire time I was in vacation, along with the past couple of days to work on it, and she hasn't even so much as LOOKED at it. And the worst part is, I'm at the point where I need some sort of feedback before I can do any work. So, here I am waiting for her to come in and talk about this "wonderous" paper, when I get email telling me that she isn't coming in this morning (she sent it at 4 in the morning!). What is a girl supposed to do? I think I should be more motivated or something...but it's hard to do anyhting when you get nothing for progress. Bleh.
Other than that...this weekend was mucho laid back. Since advisor hadn't done any work, I did no work. =) So, bascially all I did this weekend was cough out my lungs and work on this stupid Tigger puzzle that I've been trying to work on for the past six months. Finally got my act together and spent buttloads of time on it. I think I'm 50% done about now. Oh, and I bought the Harry Potter book too. When did he get so whiny? I was sort of frustrated at him...thought main characters weren't supposed to spoiled and think they were on top of the world...but he gave me that impression. Oh-well. Not done yet, so maybe it'll get better.

Yesterday was an interesting day.
Yesterday was an interesting day. First, I went to go get my hair highlighted. It turned out really good, but it also turned out about twenty dollars more than I expected. But, I always feels sort of werid being like "what the heck..." when they did a good job, and when it's such a nice place. So, I ended up paying a buttload for my highlights. Grr. Then, I found out that we couldn't take Momo from the animal shelter b/c they didn't have time to spade her. Doesn't matter that we had specifically asked that she get spaded on Tuesday or Wednesday so that we could take her home since I was leaving Thursday. They just up and forgot. And HELL NO they wouldn't let us take her, even for the night. She had to be spaded before we could even take her out of the shelter. Needless to say, I was really pissed. I don't even get to see Momo one last time before I leave for Pittsburgh. So anyway, Mike and I forgot that it was one of our "insignificant" anniversary months, so when we did remember, Mike took me to this nice Japanese restaurant in downtown Austin, Kenichi. So, we ordered food, and the appetizer came, and it was awesome. We waited...and waited...and waited...for our entrees...We freaking waited for over an hour for our food. Both Mike and I were like, "this is SO not our day..." and getting sort of pissy when the manager...actually three different managers at three different times, came up to us, apologized for the slow service and said the entire bill was on them! Kehehe. They bought us more drinks, dessert, and paid for the entire thing. I think one manager came over like ten times to apologize. By the end of the dinner Mike and I were feeling really guilty. So we left the waitress a really nice tip, even though the manager was like "don't even worry about it." Thank goodness I had cash. Heheh. So, it was probably one of the cheapest nice dinners Mike and I have ever had. Four course meal with sake and other drinks for a grand total of $20. So that put us in a better mood, and then Mike had the idea that I should just stay an extra days in Austin so that we could bring Momo home together. So I already emailed my advisor and all, and we called Continental to find out that b/c I bought the ticket through Hotwire, I couldn't change it any way shape or form. So...that was really disappointing. So now, I'm waiting for Mike to come home to pick me up to shuttle me off to the airport. I really want to come back ASAP...but I don't even think that'll happen for another month or maybe even two...grr. But yeah, I really like Austin. I think I want to move here. Can't wait until I friggin graduate!!!

I'm in Austin right now.
I'm in Austin right now. It's nice and hot and dry here...nothing like Pittsburgh. Although it is a little overbearing. My vow that I never wear shorts went out the window. It's so hot here that you just want to go to the pool all the time. Plus, going into hot weather into cold AC is giving me horrid headaches. But sometimes I can't help it.
Yesterday, Mike and I adopted a kitten from the animal shelter. She's a Russian Blue mix who's about 3 1/2 months old and her name is Miko Momo (we couldn't decide...). She is really cute, and I hope *cross fingers* she'll become a lap cat. We went shopping for her stuff today at Petsmart and we saw this other kitty that totally stole my heart away. I wanted to get her so badly, but Mike didn't want another cat (especially since we hadn't even gotten the one we adopted from the animal shelter yet...she's not spaded yet), so I played with her a bit, and then after much whining, left Petsmart without the kitty. I know she'll get adopted, but she was SO cute that I was tempted to take her back to Pittsburgh with me. But, alas, we decided that it would not be so smart, so we didn't get her. But then we felt guilty for even thinking about getting the other kitty, so to make up for my cheating heart, we went back to the animal shelter and played with Momo. And after playing with Momo some more, I think I like Momo. I like the other kitty too, but Momo is going to get all the loving she needs.
On the crappy side though, Mike is pretty sick. So, the entire time I've been here, I've been nursing him back to health (sort of). I think he's bought like four different medications and three different types of throat lozenges to try to make his throat stop hurting. I know it's not his fault for getting sick, but having a sick boyfriend when you are in town visiting is sort of a drag. Bleh.

Went to go see Miss
Went to go see Miss Saigon today. Matinee show with lots of old people. Was a little different than I expected. I don't actually know what I was expecting really, but somehow I thought it would be more focused on the love story than on the Engineer and his wanting to leave Vietnam. But yeah, it was good. Jen and I went to a really nice restaurant afterwards; she had a twenty dollar off coupon so it was pretty sweet. It was a girl's night out; Mike would be so proud of me. =)
Yesterday I made chicken curry for dinner. I was having "discusion" with Mike about how I boiled my potatoes before I put them in the curry, and he was saying he never did that b/c he was afraid that the potatoes would fall apart in the curry. And I was like, "I've never had that problem before..." (and you can imagine all the crap I said aftewards). And then BAM...I put my boiled potatoes in, and what happens? THEY ALL FALL APART. It was like the potatoes wanted to spite me. It was pretty decent anyway, and Jen brought brownies so it was super duper good. We played Monopoly (which I haven't played in ages) and of course I lost first...but it was pretty good anyway.
I think I've gained a slightly pudge recently and it's driving me insane. I think I try to work out to make it all go away, but all I see is more and more pudge and I'm about to go nuts. I'm almost thinking I'm going to have to go on a massive diet. ARGH...what happened to my motivation to work out like a mad woman? Friggin A. I think I'm going to have to swear of sweets for a couple of months. Boo.

Argh...I've hit my limit for
Argh...I've hit my limit for work for the moment. Feeling a little guilty since I'm bloggin' at work, but whatever. Running a bunch of simulations and waiting for them to complete. I get so antsy when they take longer than like, 20 minutes or something. I know that it's supposed to take a while, but I'm like, "Hurry the hell up, I have graphs to make." Plus, if I get to play with graphs, I don't have to write. I really should practice my writing skills. Boo.
Umm...this weekend was pretty decent. Friday, Dawn had a kebob party. It was actually really good. We had salmon, sausages, shrimp, chicken, beef, scallops, bell peppers, mushrooms, bananas, potatoes...the works. She spent a lot of money for the party, but I think that if everyone has fun, it's usually pretty worth it. I don't know why, but whenever I find myself at other people's houses (ie, the kitchen), I get this incredible urge (or like, need) to help out, with chopping, cleaning the dishes, or something. Is this the inner "housewife" in me calling? It's kind of weird. I did the same thing at Jim's BBQ on Sunday. I was feeling like ass, and then he was like "We need to start chopping" or something, and then BAM...I was ok, and chopping onions like a madwoman. Sigh...I'm so retarded.
Other than that...went to Animal Friends for a couple of hours on Saturday and Sunday. I saw Clair; she looked pretty good, but I think I was still a little scared about walking her, so I didn't. The cool thing was that when I went, there was a polydactal cat with her kitten. It's so weird. The front two paws of the cats actually looked like human hands (well, also with another appendage sticking between the "thumb" and the second finger"). They were pretty cute. I've never seen a polydactal cat, so I was pretty impressed, but apparently it's not so uncommon. I kind of would like one, just because it's so different (imagine me bragging 24/7, "Check out my cat's paw!"...not like I don't talk about cats enough...), but as always, I am not allowed to have one *sigh*. Oh-well.
