Kitties galore

I adopted a new kitty on Saturday. His name is . . . well, I haven't really decided a name yet (Ok, so I named him "Henry" at first, but then I decided Henry wasn't so hot. I kind of like "Texas" just b/c he is orange, but he is not orange ENOUGH. Then I thought about "Forte", but what if he is not later on? So, now he is nameless). But his nickname is "Goober", of which the two people have heard this name have decided it is retarded (Goober, I believe is Smucker's peanut butter and jelly spread, and I'm not sure why, but he acts like what I would define as a "goober", although I'm not sure there is any relationship to the PB&J stuff from Smuckers). He's a buff white and orange tabby kitty that is 10 wks old. He is super SUPER loud at night (and during the day too. Ok, he is loud always) and hates to be alone. Portia is slowly taking a liking to him. She wasn't very happy when he first showed up (i.e. extraordinarily pouty for a kitty if you can believe that). But today she hasn't hissed at him at all, and in actuality, they have chased each other around a little bit (this makes me extremely happy). I want to post pictures up of Goober (and Portia for that matter), but Goober doesn't stay still long enough for me to take a decent picture.

Other than that, July 4th was pretty decent. I watched two episodes of Long Vacation (Ohmigod, it is SO good...), and threw a BBQ at night (haha, I guess that should be the more important part). We had beef and chicken kabobs and some Whole Food sausage *yum*. Marination is key to flavorful beef and chicken, btw (ok, so I knew that too, but it was readily apparent this time around). We went out to see fireworks around up in Schenley Park. This place was supposed to be one of the "it" places to see the fireworks if you did not want to go downtown. THAT was a major disappointment. The fireworks showed up BEHIND one of the taller buildings in Pittsburgh. It was like watching the fireworks behind closed curtains. All you could see were the edges of the fireworks, but the main attraction part? Nada. All of us were like "What the heck..." and next time around, I'm going downtown. I don't feel much for fireworks (usually), but then when you only get to see a small part of it, suddenly it's imperative you see the whole thing. Bah. I feel so cheated.

That's about it. My aunt and uncle are coming pretty soon. Have to clean up like a mad woman. My cousin's propensity for cleanliness comes from my uncle, who I believe is five times worse than she is (he actually KNOWS how to clean. heh). Nervous he is going to think our place is a pigsty or something (it's not!!).
