Moral dilemna
So. A couple of days ago, I bought a Tivo from shitty Circuit City (reasons to follow). There was this awesome double rebate such that I would get the Tivo for free. When I was purchasing the Tivo, I was supposed to tell them my address so they can ship the rebate (one of the rebates) to me. So, I told them my current address. But, as I walked out the store, I realized that I was moving, and uh, by the time the rebate got to me? I would not be there anymore. So, I went back inside to ask them to change my mailing address. Waited for about ten minutes as the cashier fiddled with my receipt and the computer, and then she finally says, "I can't get it to change the address. I can change your name, but not the address" (WTF, right?) So, the other cashier person just says "go ahead and just replace the printed address with a different address." Although I was pretty skeptical, I figured I could make a stint about it later, and I *really* didn't want to have to deal with all of that, so I just left.
So, anyway, like I said, I was supposed to get the Tivo for free after rebate. But, I only got one rebate which totalled $100 (instead of $200) printed with my receipt. So I went and checked on CC for the other rebate, and apparently since the time I had first looked at the rebate until I had decided to actually use the rebate, CC had done some weirdass backpedalling and changed the expiration of the rebate from 4/30 to 4/23 (and I bought the Tivo on 4/27). So honestly speaking, this is pretty shitty of CC, and I figured I could call and ask.
So I call and ask, and the CC rep first says that they will honor it, and to use the original rebate (expiration on 4/30) and it should be ok. But I had called the rebate place and they said they wouldn't honor it. So I asked the rep about it and she pulls up my receipt/transaction and says, "Didn't you return this item?" Which, I promptly reply, "umm...no. I have it with me." So she says that it has shown up as returned and that if I have still have, she needs to call the store (blah blah blah). But since I had to go, I told her I didn't have the time, and could I call back, and so she gives me a "reference number" to call back at.
So, I go to lunch and come back and call, and some shitty, rude customer service FUCK answers the phone and basically tells me the reference number is not in the system ("and, you cannot just give me a reference number, I want your phone number, and I am an uber dick who has a stick up my ass"). And so, I ask to speak to a manager and the guy actually goes, "*pause* Well, actually, I am a manager." MY ASS. So I get annoyed and tell him I'll call later.
Well, I've just checked my credit card. And lo and behold, it *does* say that I returned the Tivo. I'm already annoyed enough at CC, and I *am* supposed to get the Tivo for free. So, the dilemna is this: "Should I go and *tell* CC that they didn't charge me for it?" On one hand, if I keep it, there is *some* probability that they will figure it out and charge my ass for it (especially after the first CC lady told me she was going to call (but I don't know if she did)). And if I don't tell them, I can't *really* ask for the other rebate, but if they end up charging me, then I'll actually have to pay the full price for the Tivo. Which quite honestly, I'd rather not.
So...should I be good and tell them? Or should I take the risk?

I am *once again* a retard
So, today as I was getting on the bus, I realized, "Holy crap, I cannot find my wallet." I tell the bus driver lady that I have it, and that I will show her my pass when I find it. Cut to five minutes later, when I have rummaged through my bookbag and cannot find it. I tell her (apolegetically!) that I can't find my wallet, in which she becomes uber bitch (although, I *guess* understandably) and tells me that I must pay like other people, which I uh, kind of can't, b/c I uh, don't have my wallet. So insert bus driver lady's rant about how she can't believe I let her drive me all the way to school before telling her I could not find my wallet. Blah blah blah. I still got my ride to school, so ha. :)
Anyway, I am a little freaked out b/c I could've *SWORN* my wallet was in my bookbag. But it's not there. So, I trace back my steps to the UC where I know I last had my wallet. No wallet there. I tell myself it's ok, I probably left it on Scott's car. Fast forward ten hours later when Scott picks me. Wallet in car? No. So, I'm starting to freak out a little bit more. "WTF is my wallet?" I get home, and my wallet IS NOWHERE IN SIGHT. Insert me cussing and freaking out and in general, being quite unhappy in the situation.
So, after freaking out and checking throughout my house, I decide that I should check my bookbag again. So, I did through everything once again. Pull EVERYTHING out. And guess what falls out with the rest of my shit?
My wallet.
...
I am SO smart. Don't you forget.

Hair!
My hair is long enough that I can pull it into one of those high pony tails that you can swish around when you walk. I look like I'm in the 60s!
This makes me happy. :)

Did I actually laugh at this?
So. The other TA proposed this "question" for the final:
What is purple and commutes?
An abelian grape. *insert laughter here*
I didn't really laugh. I swear.

People who do probability all
People who do probability all the time (and enjoy it) are smart.
Too bad I am not one of those people.

Procastinate
I just spent the last hour trying (and finally!) beating Minesweeper on Expert level. Not that I *really* needed to. Not that I shouldn't be going to bed...
Just b/c I opened up the application. And then wasted an hour of my life.
*Sigh*

Stupid stupid stupid.
Today I did one of the brightest things that I think I could possibly do.
I left a porcelain plate filled with food on the stove.
Now *normally*, I suppose this is just "sort of" stupid, since you know, why the F*CK would any normal person put a plate on the stove? I mean DUH you cannot cook with a plate.
But of course, I am not as smart or logical as most people. And of course, because I am *never* at fault, I would like to blame my cluttered and limited counterspace for the porcelain plate to be on the stove.
Like I said, this would be fine and dandy since I KNEW that I was going to boil water in a pot (read: not the plate), and then put food in the pot. But of course, I am STUPID so I *accidentally* turned on the wrong burner. Not just ANY burner, the burner with the plate with the food on it.
Now...can anyone tell me what happens when said porcelain plate is placed near extraordinary heat? ...
It EXPLODES.
Wait, let me emphasize this a little bit more. It EXPLODES . I shit you not. Not a small crack and then we go on our merry way. That porcelain plate? With all my yummy food on it? SHATTERED INTO A MILLION PIECES. Porcelain shards in my food, on the stove, in the stove, on the ground. EVERYWHERE. There were porcelain shards all across the kitchen. It was NOT a beautiful sight. And NOT fun to clean.
Of course. I *did* learn a valuable lesson (trying to look on bright side of life). I learned that putting a plate on the stove is a BAD IDEA. Regardless if I *know* I am not going to use it to cook, but if I just happen to turn on the wrong stove (something I manage to do with frightening frequency), then I will have to contend with porcelain shards everywhere. And quite frankly, I think one time, is enough.

La la la
Before anybody says that my blog is dying, I thought I would update.
So here is my update.
The end.
Heh. Anyway, this weekend was pretty decent. On Friday I threw a fondue party. Cheese and chocolate fondue. Two different cheese fondues, three different chocolate fondues. It was yum. The little bit I had (since I was so busy running around making the fonude). But it was super fun. Plus, I didn't gorge out like crazy, so I guess that's good for my waistline.
Saturday, showed my apartment to lots of prospective tenants. There is hope that I will have somebody in this place by June. Which is exciting to me b/c that basically saves me a thousand dollars (more shopping!). Then we went to PPG Aquarium for wine tasting. Too bad I decided to be DD. But otherwise, the fish and penguins were kind of cool to look at.
Today I went to Dunkin Donuts. Hoorah! Since the DD closed near where I lived, I have beeen *CRAVIN* Dunkin Donuts. I heart Dunkin Donuts like I heart Chick-fil-a. Maybe not with the exact same passion, but Dunkin Donuts is some good stuff. Plus, I had coupons. WHY would you turn down Dunkin Donuts if you have COUPONS! So we went. Then we played volleyball. Won one, lost one. S'ok. I'm getting better I think. At least when I bump it doesn't *always* go sky-rocketing to somehwere in the netherlands, so that's good. Then, we went to this party thrown by some friends. Don't usually go out on a Sunday, but it turned out pretty good. Dollar beer the entire night, free snack food, and enough shishah to blow your mind. I don't think I've ever smoked so much shishah. My throat hurts. But it was pretty relaxing and chill. Too bad shishah doesn't make you buzzed/high/whatever the correct word is to make you want to dance. At least not me. So, all the food I ate? Right to my hips. Heh.
Ok, I'm done. My blog is not dead.

When did this happen?
Want to register for IH 2005. This is the *most* backwards conference (or are all European conferences this way?). Want to pay for registration? Can't use check or credit card. No no, we must use BANK TRANSFER. BANK TRANSFER! I've never even USED bank transfer. Huh. And my absolute favorite:
* The normal registration fee includes pre-proceedings, lunch, and breaks each day, a dinner on June 7 and LNCS journal
* The student registration fee includes pre-proceedings and breaks
I guess the 100 Euro difference buys you some dinner and lunch. Otherwise? Go fend for yourself, apparently.
Oh-well. On the other hand, Cindy has found a great place for us for the summer. Can't wait. Hopefully the people will be able to change their flights and let us rent their place *crossing fingers*. They even have cats we can 'adopt' for the summer! I heart Cindy and her scary scary ability to find/locate/map/stalk people and their homes from far far away.

Bumps
So. My skin has been doing something really weird recently. Starting last week, I've seen these weird red marks all over my legs. They kind of look like rashes (like, splotches everywhere), but not itchy (although today some of them started to itch). Then, my right arm (and only right) starting breaking out in little bumps. They don't look the same as the ones on my legs, but they are also not itchy and unattractive. Went to the CMU nurse practioner and the best she could do was say, "looks like a rash" and "come back in 2 weeks if it doesn't get better." The end.
But I look disgusting. :( And my psychotic self is being delusional and freaking out about self. What if they are contagious and I'm just spreading them everywhere all over myself and everyone? What if I AM allergic to something and I have no idea what it is? Poop.
Oh. VBall was good. We won. :)
