Some day...I will get my shit together.

But until then, a recipe:
Mom's recipe for something I have no idea what the name is for:

Ingredients:
1 onion - julienned
2 carrots - julienned
7 large dried shiitake mushrooms - julienned (details in a bit)
1 8 oz can of bamboo shoots - julienned (do we see a theme here?)
1 lb pork loin - sliced finely (julienned, really)
Frozen green peas - you can just tell when you have enough, harhar

Sauce 1:
1.5 tablespoons sesame oil
1 teaspoon corn starch
2 teaspoons pepper
1 teaspoon salt

Sauce 2:
3-4 tablespoons Chinese black vinegar (I personally think it's worchestershire sauce...)
2 teaspoons corn starch

1. Bring 1/2 cup water to boil. Remove water from heat and add shiitake mushrooms to water. When mushrooms have softened, squeeze out the excess water (and save it) and julienne mushrooms.
2. Combine pork with ingredients in sauce 1.
3. Cook marinated pork until light pink (adding oil as necessary). Remove from heat.
4. Saute onions until they turn clear. Add carrots, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots to onions. Add 1/4 of the mushroom water to mix, and saute until carrots are tender.
5. Add pork and black vinegar to the vegetables. Add in green peas and saute until green peas are cooked.
6. Combine corn starch with the rest of the mushroom water. While stirring the vegetable mix, add the corn starch + water to the mix. This should thicken the sauce.
7. Add more black vinegar to taste.

Put mix over rice and serve.

Whenever I get my ass to make this dish again, maybe I'll take a pretty picture. Heh. I made it for dinner today, so the likelihood of me making it again in the next few weeks are pretty slim!
