Goober is defective

Today I decided to test the theory that "cats always land on their feet."

My conclusion: this theory is INCORRECT.

Case and point: I was craddling Goober in my arms (with his paws facing my face). I let go. He........flopped. With a squeak. And a *PUFF* of fur.

Apparently his reflexes are not so good.

Just so you know, to be scientific and all, I tested a few times before coming to this conclusion.

Goober was..........not happy.

Dumplings 101

OMG. So exhausted. Never ever thought I would be so tired after making dumplings. I *love* making dumplings. They make me happy. I was fully intending to take lots of pictures and be like "look how awesome!" but that uh...did not happen. Why is this?

I decided to MAKE MY OWN DUMPLING SKINS.

This was...not smart. Actually, the words that comes to mind are, STUPID. IDIOTIC. RETARDED.

I now fully appreciate store bought dumpling skins. Whoever thought of that is a GENIUS, because this shit (where shit = making dumpling skins)? IS SO FREAKING EXHAUSTING it's ridiculous. Not only kneading the dough (which, I stupidly did not use a PERFECTLY GOOD FOOD PROCESSOR to do it, but instead used my hands for the "full experience" *sigh*), but freaking rolling each little dough piece into perfect circular dumpling shape. And then because you took too long to wrap the dumplings? Revolted and DECIDED TO FORM BACK INTO ONE GINAMOROUS DOUGH BALL AGAIN. I think I about killed myself at this time.

There are no pictures of pretty dumplings having been made b/c I got hungry and made some half way through (which precipitated the reforming of the dough ball). There is just a whiny blog entry about HOW MAKING DUMPLING SKINS SUPER SUCKS. :)

But on the slightly brighter side: I have a lot of dumplings to eat now, and...they *do* taste better. :P

Prom-ola

Saturday night, I continued my obsession with still being in high school. Last week: alcohol in a water bottle. This week: PROM.

Yep...I attended a prom. Not thrown by a high school (thank god), but by some MIT alum who apparently felt the need the relive high school. And apparently, over 100 people felt the need to join him. It was spectacularly awesome. Especially being the superbly drunk at prom theme. Perfect.

Sunday afternoon, I grew up a little bit and went to a driving range. Golf is fun. I think my friends and I did not adhere to etiquette. There was a lot of laughing done by us - in the "OMG, I just missed the ball AGAIN" way. I super sucked as you kno, I have very limited eye-hand coordination. But whatever, was still fun.

Today, went line dancing. This is also surprisingly fun. Had some older guy show me cha-cha, nightclub two-step, country two-step, and west coast swing. At these, I also am the suck. But that's ok. Need more practice. Will probably go again next week. It's kinda a lot of fun. :) I also learned the line dance, "drunker than me."

Holy crap this is a boring blog entry. Had a great interesting exciting story about prom all lined up, but then.........it died. Oops.

I am gimp

Yesterday, I ate a Luna bar before my step class and decided that I was going to KICK ASS in class (e.g., be EXTRA bouncy).

Unfortunately for me, my body decided that it didn't really want to cooperate.

By cooperate, I meant that my ankle would be nice and supportive when I was doing turns on the step and NOT decide to roll all over itself.

And sprain itself resulting in me falling on my butt in front of the entire class.

This was....embarrassing.

And extraordinarily frustrating because I CONSUMED AN EXTRA 180 calories before class!!!!!!

SO...I sat out for a grand total of 5 minutes simmering in anger at my stupid ankle.

BUT THEN! I realized that this injury? Would make me NOT BE ABLE TO WORK OUT FOR AT LEAST THREE-FOUR DAYS. And this...caused me to panic a little bit.

So. My thought process:
1. This stupid ankle is going to let me not work out for a few days.
2. But I still have lots of adrenaline running through my body
3. This makes me not hurt as much. Plus...swelling won't *really* happen as long as I keep moving.
4. Might as well enjoy adrenaline while it lasts!

SO! I got back on my step (albeit not working quite as hard since u kno, ankle...and falling...makes one not as aggressive as before...) and finished my class.

Now I am out at least for a few days. I have a golf ball for an ankle. I am also in love with ACE bandages. They make my ankle happy.

Wonder if I pop a few aspirins I can get on the elliptical machine tomorrow...

Question for the day: Does joining a wine club make me an alcoholic?

I went to Napa Valley this weekend. It was absolutely gorgeous. Of course, my stupid butt managed to forget MY WALLET and not realize this until we were about 3/4 of the way there. This was a VERY sad moment for me. HOWEVER! Apparently I look old enough to not get carded (sigh), either that, or people in NV don't realize that wine tasting != spitting out wine and only TASTING the wine with no intention of getting drunk off your butt. Which btw, I *did not* do *wink wink*, so I mean, the fact that they didn't check my ID was *TOTALLY* justified.

So anyway, after a few stops at different wineries, we found ourselves at Mumm Napa Valley with wondermous sparkling wine. So I dunno if it was the heat, or the alcohol, or WHAT, but I joined their wine club and walked out with two bottles of sparkling wine and a bottle stopper (sweet!). I love bubblies. Now I can drink them all the time!

Since the wineries closed at 5...and we hadn't *really* quite satiated our wine needs (seriously, we still wanted to get our drink on...), we headed off to Napa city and bought ourselves a bottle of really really yummy white wine (Goosecross Chenin Blanc). And happily headed to the local mall to watch movies (so I hadn't been to a movie theatre since January, sue me). Well, walking around with a bottle of wine shared between two people probably doesn't look the best. So instead? We filled up two water bottles with the wine and walked around with that. I know. Does this not *scream* high school? Yes. I agree.

Anyway, we watched Xmen. Which was good. It managed to finish at 8:55, and there was a Chick-fil-a (pictures of my happiness at eating Chick-fil-a are possibly up to come...) at the mall, so we RAN over to Chick-fil-a to eat dinner (even though we ate there for lunch). I have to admit, no matter how much I *love* Chick-fil-a, I don't think CFA is a drunk food. :\ But at least, I got my CFA on. Then we headed back and watched The Breakup. My conclusion: I love Jennifer Aniston.

So that's about it. Sunday was ... cleaning. I get my couch hopefully cross fingers TOMORROW or wednesday. Could this couch take ANY LONGER?! Sheesh.
