The things I do.

Went up to Lake Tahoe this weekend. It was....an adventure. :) Sometimes, driving through a blizzard (although not done by me) to make it to the slopes is sort of silly. But somehow, kind of totally worth it.

Adventures that happened:
1. Postponed drive up to Tahoe from Friday night to Saturday morning because Tahoe was experiencing 150 mph winds. This was a SMART decision.
2. Getting to Sierra around 11:30 on Saturday (this was ok I suppose) - it was pretty uneventful. Eventful part came around 3:00pm when winds started picking up and visibility was less than 2 feet. Goggles fogging up -> cannot see. Taking off goggles -> pelting snow in face. I went down one slope literally blind. I couldn't tell if I was going down the mountain or into some trees. It's exciting when all of a sudden out of the blue you see the lodge "oh! I should stop." This is...interesting.
3. RACING to our car around 3:30. Everyone just throws everything in (no changing boots -> we are racing to beat the snow storm?) This turns out to be fruitless. A mile or two ahead of us, a bus gets hit by an avalanche. So...we sit basically on the road for about four hours waiting for them to tow the bus and clear the roads. This equals us romping around the roads, making snow castles in the road and being yelled by the police! Yay. :)
4. Checking Kirkwood to see if the roads are open from South Lake Tahoe on Sunday morning. They said basically yes (should be cleared before anyone starts driving), so we head over there. CLOSED. :( Sad b/c I had pre-ordered SAC tickets and now we couldn't get in. Waited for about an hour -> snowball fight in the middle of the road! Then decided to eat the cost and go to Sierra. Didn't get to Sierra until 12 again. Sigh.
5. First lift ride of Sierra was eventful. First, waited in line for like 20 minutes b/c the express lift was broken. Then , got STUCK at the top of lift (literally four carts away from the top) for about 10 minutes because they lost power. 40-50 mph crosswinds SUCK. Thank god for wind breakers. It was just this lift. We just made a stupid mistake (sigh).
6. Discovered that In-N-Out's 'veggie' burger is their burger with no meat. Literally: two pieces of tomatoes and some lettuce between two buns. That's uh...not a veggie burger.

And that's about it! The snow was awesome when we actually boarded. Sunday was beautiful. If all snow could be like Sunday's I would be happy. It'd be like 2006 all over again!

So that's my first weekend back on the snowboard. I need to learn to look less retarded going down the mountain. More graceful. That's my next task!
