Running...
Stupid: Romping around in wet, sweaty workout clothes in the cold while being sick. This does NOT help with getting over a cold.
So...I downloaded the Nike Treadmill 10K workout the other day. It's surprisingly not bad. And also makes me feel completely out of shape.
First try: thought I could "maintain" a base pace of 7.3 mi/hr. Felt pretty good when doing so during the warm up and half of the hill interval. Finished hill interval, but DIED after hill interval. Couldn't catch my breath fast enough before the speed interval was about to begin, so then I stopped. :(
Second try: lower my expectations. Base pace of 6.8 mi/hr. MUCH better. Although, still ridiculously hard to catch my breath after hill interval. But I DID finish...which was good. Kind of "cheated" a little by letting myself walk in between during the speed workout. Next goal: not needing to walk at all.
I think what I like most about the workout is that I feel like I have still a lot of room for improvement. Hopefully this will re-inspire me to start running more consistently. And then hopefully I will have great body for Mexico beach trip in March! hahahaha...
